MITEC, INC. SHIPPING POLICY

Our shipping policy is a little bit different from some of the other websites you may be used to dealing with.  This page is designed to answer any questions you might have about how our shipping process works.

You will not see any shipping charges in your cart while you are shopping, or on your order total after you check out.  You might wonder, "does this mean that the shipping costs are included in the item price?"  Well, we wish it were that simple, but unfortunately, it isn't.  Due to the wide range of shipping weights and dimensions of MITEC's products, and where we are shipping to, the shipping charges for each order must be calculated on an individual basis. Therefore, a real, live person will contact you with estimated shipping charges within 24 hours of your order placement.  Our usual shipper of choice is Federal Express, but we can also use the U.S. Postal Service or other carriers at your request (though we will no longer ship via UPS except under certain conditions).** The SS7 and SS8 Sturdy Step ladders can ONLY be shipped by FedEx due to their length.

"What if the shipping charges are too high," you might ask?  We ship primarily ladders, which are by definition very long, tall products which can be awkward for freight companies (or for anyone!) to handle.  Therefore, these "oversized" packages will be more expensive to ship than a smaller item of the same weight. This applies to any stepladder that you buy, not just ours. However, we check all the rates and find the best price for you - we have been doing this for 25 years, and we wouldn't still be in business if our rates weren't fair.  If you feel that the shipping charges we quote are too expensive, you have the right to cancel your order  without penalty, or make your own shipping arrangements.  Unlike many other websites, we do not charge your credit card when your order is placed.  After you have agreed on the shipping charges, we will ship your ladder within 1 to 5 business days.  Your credit card will not be charged until the day before or the day of your order's shipment. 

You may still be a little bit concerned about ordering something without knowing how much the shipping rates will be.  We don't blame you;  we would be too!  This is why we invite you to call us at 262-513-1085, or use our Customer Contact Form to request a shipping estimate BEFORE you place your order.  Just email us with the item(s) you would like to order and your zip code, and we will get back to you with an estimate ASAP.  We are a small, family-owned company, and we do our best to treat all of our customers the way that we would like to be treated by a vendor.  After all, we are consumers too!

Shipping / Lead Times:  If your ordered item is in stock and we get your approval of shipping charges quickly, your order can be shipped in 1 to 3 days.  Normal shipping time is within 1 week (1-5 days) of order.

Our products can be shipped within any of the 50 U.S. States;  freight rates to Alaska, Hawaii, and Canada will be higher than those in the 48 contiguous states.

Shipping your Sturdy Step or Bedside Table as a gift?  We can include a personalized note with your shipment!  Just make a note of what kind of message you would like to include in the "Special Instructions" section of the order form.  When we contact you with the freight charges, we will also ask exactly what you would like your note to say.  Or, if you have your own note or card which can be sent by email and printed out, we will be happy to do this as well.  We want to make your ordering process with MITEC as smooth and pleasurable as possible.

Finally - and this almost never happens - if we do not receive a response from you after three (3) attempts to contact you - both by phone and by email - to confirm your approval of shipping charges, MITEC, Inc. reserves the right to proceed with shipping the order, at our own discretion.

** UPS Shipments.  As stated above, due to numerous problems with UPS overcharging us and damaging our packages in shipment, we have decided to no longer use UPS effective 1/10/2011.  If you prefer to have your order shipped by UPS, we will ship it, under the condition that the shipping charges must be billed directly to you, or to your UPS Account.
