How Many Steps are on my Sturdy Step ladder?

This seems like a simple enough question, but the answer might surprise you!  That's why we have created this page to set the record straight.

From time to time, we are reminded by our customers that some people assume that our 3-step ladder has three steps (also called treads or rungs), plus the platform at the top.  However, this is actually the description of our 4-step ladder.   

Very simply:  the platform at the top of the ladder IS counted as the top step.   Some of our customers have told us that they are nervous about standing on the top platform step.  We can understand this, so if you don't feel comfortable standing on the platform, or if you suffer from shakiness or unsteadiness, then by all means, don't.  But, it is rated to support a weight of 150 kg, or about 330 lbs, so anyone, anything, or any combination thereof weighing 330 lbs. or less will be safely supported by the platform, as long as the platform is properly locked into place.  The rounded tubular handle on the top is there for you to hold onto for additional support.
